Description
Your Red Rock Canyon Journey to Nature Exploration Tour allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas.
Your tour begins when we pick you up from the New York New York Hotel or Mirage Hotel. Enjoy the scenic view on your 30-40 minute ride to Red Rock, where you will discover the true beauty of the Southern Nevada desert.
When we reach Red Rock Canyon, our professional tour guide will present you with 3 trail options for your hiking needs: Calico Hills, White Rock to Willow Springs, and Ice Box Canyon. Our guided hikes highlight ecological and cultural elements and are approximately 2.5 and 3 hours each.
The Calico Hills trail runs along the base of the Calico Rocks from Calico Basin to Sandstone Quarry. This easy-to-moderate, well defined trail offers variable distances allowing you to hike as much or as little as you want. You can access the trail at either end or from either of the two Calico parking areas. A side trail runs from the fee booth parking lot and connects with this trail.
The White Rock to Willow Springs trail offers a 4.4-mile (7km) round trip hiking distance. On this easy-to-moderate, well defined hiking adventure, you will take the trail on the west side to the point where it splits, while the right trail descends to a man-made water hole. The trail heads downhill, through a wash and climb over a ridge to reach the Lost Creek area. Continuing on for a short a short distance, you’ll reach Willow Springs. Then, you will turn back to return to White Rock.
The Ice Box Canyon trail is moderately strenuous and is perfect for a healthy workout. This trail takes you down across the wash and up the other side toward the canyon. This trail is well defined as it leads you up the side of the canyon for approximately 1/4 of a mile. The trail then drops into the bottom of the canyon. From this point, the trail becomes a route over or around boulders as it continues upstream. The trail comes to an end at the large pine tree at the bottom of the canyon. If you want access to the upper pool featuring the seasonal waterfall, you have to tackle the tricky wall scrambling and a 3-mile (4.5km) roundtrip.

We are experienced hikers, both in our 70s. Along with Mark as our guide we took the Calico Tanks trail right up to the top and back in about 3 hours total time. We would like to compliment Mark on his professionalism in handling two older hikers with patience and respect. The trail was rated as easy to moderate which seems just about right. Mark was very knowledgeable about the regional flora and history of native peoples occupation of the Red Rock canyon area.

Visiting Las Vegas for the first time with my husband who had a conference. I needed something to do during the day and called in the morning one day for a next day tour. The staff were really helpful, polite, and friendly. Somehow I missed the tour bus the next morning. I know I was in the right place, they said he was in the right place, and I still missed him. After a few phone calls, with the staff being very helpful and polite and even apologetic (because whose fault was it, no one really knows) we set it up for the next morning. This time the tour bus was there. The guide was very funny and laid back and just comfortable to be with, which was nice since I was traveling alone that day. The canyon was beautiful! I had a great time! Im from a region that is almost at sea level and the altitude was a little tricky for me, but the guide stopped plenty of times for me to catch my breath, take pictures, and he would point out the interesting features of the rock or flora. All in all it was a great experience and I plan on doing it again if we come back.

I really enjoyed this tour and it was a great way to escape The Strip and see some of the surrounding desert if you are short on time and dont have your own transportation. Our guide was very professional and had an excellent knowledge of the area. He gave us the option to chose a walk depending on the degree of difficulty we were after. I dont recommend this tour for people who are very unfit or afraid of heights as you may hold up the rest of the group, unless you are doing the tour by yourselves.

We enjoyed the hike and the scenery. Our guide was friendly, helpful, and informative. We would do it again.
One suggestion, though. We went at the end of July and the heat was relentless. If youre a couch potato,
take the tour in the winter.
